- If you bought your ticket a week or more before the departure date of your flight, you can cancel it within 24 hours of booking without paying any extra fees. This rule applies to all ticket types (Excluding JetBlue vacation bookings).
- Customers can cancel their reservation within 24 hours either online through JetBlue.com or by calling them.
Cancellation Policy for Non-Refundable Tickets
- If you have a non-refundable ticket and you cancel it, the money you paid will become a JetBlue Travel Credit for you to use in the future.
- If you don't cancel a non-refundable flight before it takes off, you will lose all the money you have paid, including any optional things you bought.
Cancellation Policy for Refundable Tickets
- Although refundable tickets cost more, they give you more flexibility. Not as other tickets that give you travel credit, JetBlue's policy allows you to get a full refund of refundable tickets using your original payment method.
- If you do not cancel a refundable ticket before the flight takes off, you will get JetBlue Travel Credit instead of a cash refund.
- If customers cancel flight tickets they bought with TrueBlue points, their points will go back into their TrueBlue account.
- This process follows some rules:
- You can only cancel a part of your trip that you have not used yet.
- You cannot cancel just one part of a roundtrip ticket.
- There is a special JetBlue cancellation policy for Mosaic members.
- Most Mosaic members, except Blue Mosaic, can cancel even non-refundable tickets for free before their flight.
- You can become a Mosaic member by flying 30 flight segments and earning 12,000 flight points in a year or by earning 15,000 flight points in a year.
- But Blue Mosaic members lose the entire fare, except for any extras they bought if they cancel a non-refundable ticket before their flight.
Government or Military Personnel -
- Government employees and the military can cancel their flights and get a full refund, even if they miss the flight and do not show up.
Cancellation Policy Due to Death-
- A Passenger's Death- If a ticketed passenger passes away, JetBlue's cancellation policy allows a full refund for the deceased passenger and their travel companions. To get the refund, you must request it within 14 days of cancelling the flight and provide a copy of the death certificate. You can contact JetBlue at 1-800-JETBLUE (538-2583).
- A Family Member's Death- If an immediate family member of a ticketed passenger dies, you might get a fee waiver. You need to provide a copy of the death certificate, obituary, or funeral program. For inquiry call JetBlue at 1-800-JETBLUE (538-2583).
- An immediate family member includes the passenger's or their spouse's:
- Parent
- Grandparent
- Great-grandparent
- Spouse
- Child
- Grandchild
- Great-grandchild
- Brother
- Sister
- Step-relatives.
- If a family member of a passenger gets sick, they cannot cancel a non-refundable ticket.
- They can change the travel date by turning the ticket into an open one for future travel (within a year from the original date by paying a change fee.
- You can cancel refundable tickets before the flight without any extra fees.
- Passengers will lose all the money they have paid for that part if they don't cancel a non-refundable flight part before it takes off.
- This rule applies to things, like extra legroom, faster boarding, baggage fees for extra bags, etc.
- This does not apply to special government or military ticket holders.
- When JetBlue cancels your flight, you can choose to:
- Get JetBlue Travel Bank Credit.
- Get on the next available flight without paying extra.
- Get a full refund if they cannot find another flight for you within 2 hours.
- When flights are cancelled or delayed due to irregularities:
- If JetBlue cancels your flight because of a controllable issue and they cannot find another flight for you within 1 hour, you can get compensation in the form of a credit for future travel on JetBlue:
- $50 if the flight was cancelled less than 4 hours before departure.
- $100 if the flight was cancelled after its scheduled departure time.
- If your JetBlue flight is delayed because of something they could control, you will get compensation in the form of credit for future travel with JetBlue:
- 3 to 3 hours and 59 minutes delay: $50
- 4 to 4 hours and 59 minutes delay: $100
- 5 to 5 hours and 59 minutes delay: $150
- 6 hours or more delay: $200
- If your arrival is delayed while on the ground (except for security reasons), you can apply for the compensation as credit for future travel:
- If the delay is between 1 to 1 hour and 59 minutes, you get $50.
- If the delay is between 2 to 2 hours and 59 minutes, you get $125.
- If the delay is 3 hours or more, you get $200.
Overbookings Cause Compensation
- If they force you to give up your seat on a JetBlue flight because they had too many passengers, you will get compensation of $1,550.
- Only Blue Basic fares have a cancellation fee:
- $100 for routes within the United States, the Caribbean, and Central America.
- $200 for all other routes.
- There is no cancellation penalty for all other fare types (Blue, Blue Extra, Blue Plus, and Mint).
- To cancel a JetBlue flight by phone, provide:
- Your confirmation number
- Flight number
- Travel dates
- Passenger details like date of birth and contact info.
- To cancel your JetBlue flight online, provide:
- Your confirmation code
- Last name
- Origin and destination cities.
- Passengers cannot cancel online if:
- They paid with a travel certificate or JetBlue voucher.
- They have a special service request (SSR) or a different return city.
- Note:
- If you book for more than one person, canceling applies to everyone in that booking.
- If you've already made changes to your booking, you can't get a refund, and there might be a cancellation fee, even if it's within 24 hours of the original booking.
- JetBlue travel credits are good for changing or canceling flights and paying fare differences online.
- You cannot use them for:
- Pet fees
- Baggage fees
- Unaccompanied Minor fees
- Even More Space seats or other services.
