  • If you are denied boarding, and you had a confirmed booking, according to EC Regulation 261/2004:
  • You can get EUR 600 in cash or travel vouchers (your choice), or EUR 300 and 40,000 Asia Miles.
  • If they offer you a comparable alternate flight that does not make you arrive more than 4 hours later than your original schedule, your compensation is reduced by 50%.
  • If Cathay Pacific cancels your flight and they do not provide an alternate flight, you can get EUR 600.
  • If Cathay Pacific cancels the flight, and they offer an alternate flight that does not make you arrive more than 4 hours later than originally scheduled, your compensation will be reduced by 50%, as per EC Regulation 261/2004.

Cathay Pacific Cancellation Policy for Long Flight Delays

  • If your airline flight is delayed by at least 4 hours, you get the following services for free:
  • Meals and drinks, depending on how long you have to wait.
  • Two chances to make phone calls, send emails, and messages via telex/fax.
  • If your flight is delayed until the next day, you will receive the following items for free:
  • A place to stay, like a hotel, even if it's overnight.
  • Transportation to and from the airport and the hotel.
  • If your flight is delayed by at least 5 hours, you have the option to cancel it and receive a full refund for:
  • The parts of your trip you will not be taking.
  • If needed, you can also receive a refund for the return flight.

24 Hour Cathay Pacific Flight Cancellation Policy 

  • The 24-hour cancellation policy allows passengers to cancel flights without any cancellation fee. You can cancel your Cathay Pacific flight ticket within 24 hours of buying it and claim a refund if you meet these conditions:
  • Book your flight on Cathay Pacific's U.S. website.
  • Your flight goes to or from the United States.
  • Cancel a ticket within 24 hours of booking.
  • Your flight is at least 7 days away from the day you booked it.
  • Note:
  • Use Cathay's Global Contact Center because online cancellation will not work if you are canceling within Cathay Pacific’s 24-hour cancellation policy.
  • If you cancel your flight within 7 days of your trip or more than 24 hours after buying your ticket, you have to pay a cancellation fee based on your route and fare conditions and you might not be entitled to a full refund.

Ticket Cancellation Fee at Cathay Pacific 

  • If your ticket is unused or partially used, you have to pay the usual cancellation fee of 150 USD per passenger. For expired tickets, it is USD 200 per passenger.
  • According to the Cathay Pacific cancellation fee, if you have a non-refundable fare and cannot get a refund for your Cathay Pacific ticket, you have to pay a fixed charge of USD 150 (plus any fare difference) to change to the following types of fares:

Cathay Pacific Change Fees

  • If you cannot change your flight for free according to Cathay Pacific's policy, they will charge you a flight change fee (also known as a rebooking fee).

  • Changing the Departure Date

  • You will have to pay a fee for rebooking if you need to change your flight date and your ticket does not qualify for free:
  • Economy Standard: USD 50
  • Promotional, Economy Save, Premium Economy Standard, Business Save: USD 150
  • Note: 
  • You cannot change or rebook Economy Supersaver fares to/from Hong Kong.
  • If you change your flight date from a low season to a high season, you might have to pay the fare difference.
  • You will not get any fare refund if you change your flight date from a high season to a low season.

Changing the Flight Route

  • If you want to change your flight route and it's not free, you have to pay a certain rerouting fee:
  • Economy Standard: USD 50
  • Promotional, Economy Save, Premium Economy Standard, Business Save: USD 150
  • Note:
  • You will also have to pay any fare and tax difference for the new route. If your tickets are unused, Cathay Pacific will reevaluate the fares.
  • If your new ticket is cheaper, you will not get a refund, but get the new ticket.

Changing Name on Tickets

  • If you need to correct a minor name mistake on your Cathay Pacific ticket, you can do it for free. They will fix slight misspellings for free. But you cannot change the ticket to belong to someone else.
  • Cathay Pacific does not charge for these types of name corrections:
  • Adding or removing a middle name.
  • Removing duplicate titles (if you booked online or via the mobile app).
  • Swapping the first and last name.
