  • ANA cancels your flight.
  • You can cancel the flight if ANA delays your flight because of their issues, and the new flight they offer does not work for you.
  • You book a U.S. ticket seven days before the flight through ANA's official channels (ANA Sky Web USA, ANA Customer Service, or U.S. airport ticket counter), and the cancellation is made within 24 hours.
  • You were denied boarding due to reasons beyond your control, like overbooking.
  • If someone on your booking passes away, you or an immediate family member can be eligible for a full refund with a death certificate.
  • If an immediate family member dies, even if they were not on the flight, you can get refunds from ANA by providing their death certificate.
  • Note:
  • If you bought your ticket from a travel agency or website, contact them directly for refunds.

24 hour ANA Airlines Flight Cancellation Policy

  • As per the ANA 24 hour cancellation policy for flights to/from the United States, passengers can cancel their booking within 24 hours of booking if you book it at least seven days before your flight. This is a rule from the US Department of Transportation. This policy permits passengers to get a full refund for any ticket, even if it is non-refundable, as long as:
  • Book their ticket a minimum of seven days before your flight.
  • Book their ticket through ANA Sky Web USA, ANA's Customer Service Center, or an ANA ticketing counter at a U.S. airport.

ANA Flight Cancellation Policy Due to Death

  • If a passenger or their immediate family member dies, even if the family member was not traveling with them, they can cancel an ANA flight without paying any cancellation fees.
  • The family member or next of kin should send ANA a copy of the death certificate to qualify for a refund. You can do this through fax, email, or by visiting ANA's City/Airport office in person.

ANA Cancelled Flights Policy

  • When ANA cancels your flight and the suggested replacement flight does not suit you, you can:
  • Either take the alternative flight at no extra charge.
  • Or cancel the ticket and ask for a refund.
  • Important to Note:

  • If you ask for a refund for both parts of a return trip or a connecting flight, the refund fee will be JPY 440 for each part of the journey.
  • The above rule applies to specific fares like Premium ANA Card Holder’s Discount Fare, ANA Card Holder’s Discount Fare, ANA Value Transit/Transit 7/Transit 28.
  • There are no refund charges for Individual Inclusive Tour Fares.

ANA Cancellation Fee for Domestic Fares

  • The cancellation charges depend on the type of fare you bought.

For the types of domestic tickets

  • a)     ANA Super Value Premium 28
  • b)    ANA Super Value 75/55/45/28/21
  • c)     ANA Super Value SALE Fares
  • If passengers cancel their ANA airlines at least 55 days before departure, there is no charge.
  • If you cancel ANA airlines flight between 54 and 45 days before departure, the fee is about 30% of the fare.
  • For cancellations between 44 and 28 days before departure, it is about 40%.
  • If you cancel 27 to 14 days before departure, the fee is approximately 50%.
  • Within 13 days of departure, it is almost 60%.
  • After departure, you will have to pay 100% of the fare.

For the types of domestic tickets

  • a)     FANA Value Premium 3
  • b)    ANA Value 1/3/7
  • c)     ANA Value Transit
  • d)    ANA Value Transit 7/28
  • e)     ANA Senior Special
  • f)      ANA Youth Special Fare
  • If ANA cancellation policy allows passengers to cancel an ANA airlines flight after buying the ticket but before your flight, the fee is about 5% of the fare.
  • After the flight has departed, it is 100% of the fare.

For the types of domestic tickets

  • a)     Premium Fares
  • b)    Premium Disability Discount Fares
  • c)     Premium Shareholder’s Benefit Discount Fares (including Child)
  • d)    Shareholder’s Benefit Discount Fares (including Child)
  • e)     Premium ANA Card Holder’s Discount Fares
  • f)      ANA Flex Fares, ANA Card Holder’s Discount Fares
  • g)     ANA Disability Discount Fares
  • h)    Islands Ticket Fares, Caregiver Fares
  • i)       Premium Child Fares
  • If the ANA policy allows you to cancel your ANA airlines ticket after buying it but before your flight, there are no cancellation charges, but you might face refund charges.
  • After the flight has departed, the fee is around 20% of the fare.
  • The cancellation charges for AMC Companion Fares:
  • If you cancel after your ticket purchase but before your flight, you have to pay about 50% of the fare.
  • Cancellation after the flight's departure will not offer any refund.
  • The cancellation charges for Individual Inclusive Tour Fares:
  • If you cancel at least 55 days before departure, it is JPY 500.
  • For cancellations between 54 to 21 days before departure, the fee is JPY 2,000.
  • If you cancel 20 to 8 days before departure, the charges are JPY 3,000.
  • Within 7 to 1 day before departure, you have to pay JPY 6,000.
  • Right up until the departure time, it is JPY 9,000.
  • After the flight has departed, you will pay 100% of the fare.

Special Cases for Refunds and Domestic Flight Changes 

  • For some cases like illness, you have options for refunds and changes for domestic flights in Japan:
  • You can change your flight within 30 days of your departure date.
  • You can also ask for a refund without any refund or cancellation fees.
  • Conditions:
  • You need to cancel or change your ticket before your flight.
  • You must provide a doctor's note or similar proof to show that you could not take the flight due to illness or a similar reason.

ANA Refund Policy

  • If you bought your ticket directly from ANA:
  • Call ANA or visit the office in your country.
  • Go to the ANA ticketing office where you bought your ticket.
  • Visit an airport counter.
  • You can also request it online on ANA's Search Reservation page.
  • To request online, you need to provide your reservation number or e-ticket number. If you see "Exempt from Handling Fees" on the View Reservations page, you will not be charged a handling fee. Otherwise, you have to pay a certain charge.
  • Please Note For Refunds:
  • Make your request at least 24 hours before your flight.
  • Call the ANA office in Mexico for a refund if you bought your ticket through ANA’s Mexico website.
  • It might take a few months to process a refund.
  • After your request is processed, you will receive a refund statement through email.
  • Call ANA to get the miles back into your account if you want to refund an award ticket.
  • If you got your ticket from a travel agency, contact them directly for a refund.
  • You can request a free refund by calling ANA or your local ANA reservations/customer service center if you purchased a paid service directly from ANA.
  • Ask for a refund without handling fee in these situations if:
  • Your flight leaves within 24 hours.
  • You cannot request a refund on ANA's website.
  • Your refund involves an award flight.
  • The refund period falls into these two categories:
  • a)     Before your itinerary starts, which is 1 year and 30 days from the ticket's issue date.
  • b)    After your itinerary begins, which is 1 year and 30 days from your travel start date.
  • After canceling your flight:
  • a)     Paid services like exclusive dining will be canceled.
  • b)    You will get a refund for the unused flight segments' fee.
  • You can call for a refund without a handling fee even if your departure date passed:
  • a)     Your ticket qualifies for special handling (check your ticket's fare conditions or call ANA).
  • b)    If you request it within the allowed refund period (1 year and 30 days from the ticket's issue date or travel start date).

Voluntary Refunds

  • If you bought your ticket directly from the ANA website, you can ask for a refund on their website.

ANA Tickets/EMDs Eligible for Refunds

  • You can get a refund for international ANA flight tickets that start with 205 (issued by ANA) and EMDs. These EMDs are used to pay for extra services at specific places. If another airline issued your international flight ticket or EMD, you have to contact that airline to get your refund.
  • The place where you bought your ticket decides:
  • Booked online through ANA's website: You can request a refund online on ANA's website or by phone.
  • Bought through ANA by phone: Receive a refund by contacting ANA airlines country office by phone.
  • Purchased at ANA's international airport ticketing counter in Japan: You can call the ANA office in Japan or visit the airport ticketing counter in Japan.
  • Bought at ANA's city ticketing/airport counter outside Japan: Go to the ANA city ticketing counter in the country where you bought the ticket.
  • Get through a travel agency: Contact the travel agency where you purchased the ticket.
  • Note:
  • You will get your refund in the same currency you used to buy the ticket.
  • If you are outside Japan, you might receive the refund by check in the local currency.
  • If you used a lot of cash for your ticket, you might not be able to get the refund at the airport counter. Contact ANA by phone for more information.

Refund Validity

  • ANA allows refund requests for tickets and EMDs within a specific time limit:
  • Within 1 year and 30 days from the date of your first flight.
  • Within 1 year and 30 days from the date when the unused ticket or EMD was issued.

Refund Amount

  • If you have not used any part of your ticket, your refund equals what you paid minus handling fees and taxes, including the Passenger Service Facility Charge.
  • If you used some of your tickets, your refund equals what you paid minus the used fare portion, handling fees, and taxes, including the Passenger Service Facility Charge.
  • You cannot get refunds for the non-refundable fares.
  • Fees for changing flights or refunds may have extra tax based on your country and route.
  • If you ask for a refund after changing your reservation, the stricter fare rule of the changed fare applies.
  • In the case of EMDs, your refund (if any) equals what you paid minus cancellation charges, which may have extra tax depending on your country and flight route.

ANA Refund Charges and Cancellation Fee

  • If your ticket rule mentions a cancellation fee and a refund fee, those fees will apply. The cancellation fee can be up to USD 500.
  • The handling fee you pay might also have additional taxes, which depend on your country and flight route.

ANA Refund Methods 

  • Credit Card Purchase:
  • If you paid with a credit card, your refund goes back to that card.
  • It may take 1 to 2 months, depending on when you requested it and your credit card company's processing time.
  • Some credit card companies charge their service fee later, so check with them for details.
  • If your trip involves other airlines, refunds might take longer.
  • Cash Purchase:
  • If you paid with cash, you can get a refund in two ways:
  • Either it can be deposited into your bank account with a bank transfer fee deduction.
  • Or you might receive a check if your ticket was issued outside Japan.
  • Refunds usually go to the person named on the ticket.
  • You will need a valid ID (like a passport or driver's license), your ANA Mileage Club card or number, or a letter of authority.
  • Cash refunds typically take about 10 days, except during the New Year or holiday season.
  • The process may take longer during bad weather or if your flight involves other airlines.
  • ANA Value Voucher:
  • If you used an ANA Value Voucher to buy your ticket, ANA will refund the voucher amount.
  • ANA SKY COINS:
  • If you used ANA SKY COINS for your ticket, ANA will refund them to your account.
  • But, if your SKY COINS have expired when you request the refund, you will not get a refund.
