Alaska Airlines Cancellation Policy for Various Fares

• Saver Fares: If you purchase a Saver fare, you cannot cancel it after 24 hours (From May 1, 2021).

• Main Cabin Fares: After May 1, 2021, there's no fee for cancelling a Main Cabin fare. It is free to cancel.

• First Class Fares: There is no fee for cancelling a First Class fare after May 1, 2021.

• Award Fares: Cancelling an Award Ticket is also free after May 1, 2021.

Important to Note

• Always try to cancel your ticket before your flight takes off.

• If you are not eligible for a refund, you can cancel your booking and use its value for future travel.

• If you purchased your ticket through a third party, you have to contact them for cancellations.

• Cash purchases take about 20 business days to get refunded. And credit card purchases take up to 14 days to show refunded money in your account.

• Peace of Mind waivers only work for Alaska Airlines tickets with a 13-digit number that starts with their code- 027.

• If your ticket is from a different airline and it does not start with the code- 027, you have to follow that airline's policies, whether they have a waiver or not.

• For paper tickets, either return them to where you bought them from or send them

Alaska Airlines' 24-Hour Cancellation Policy

If your trip starts more than 24 hours after you bought the ticket, you can cancel any ticket within 24 hours of buying it and get a full refund. This rule applies to all fare types, including Saver fares.
If you cancel a ticket within 24 hours of your flight, you have to pay a cancellation fee.
You will get a refund by the same payment method you used while buying tickets. Same, if you have paid with a credit card, they put the money back on your credit card.

• If you cancel any flight ticket, except a Saver fare, within 24 hours of your flight departure, you need to pay a cancellation fee of $125.

You can cancel your Alaska Airlines flight in three ways:

• Online, by using their mobile app.

• Call the toll-free number to cancel over the phone, which works in the United States and Canada. They provide 24/7 service and accept cancellation requests from their customers.

• Follow the steps to cancel Alaska Flight

• Visit the website

• Click on the "Manage trip" tab or (the "Manage" tab above it)

• Enter your last name, 6-letter confirmation code, and 10-digit e-ticket number.

• Click on the "Continue" button and select the flight you want to cancel.

• Send the travel credit to my email to receive a Credit Certificate

Important Points to Remember 

• Credit Certificate Validity: Your Credit Certificate is acceptable for 12 months from when it is issued or 30 days from when you cancel or exchange it, whichever is later.

• Mobile App Limitation: You cannot use Credit Certificates on the mobile app or mobile site.

• Use It Before It Expires: Make sure to use your Credit Certificate or wallet funds to buy a new ticket before it expires.

• Keep Your Certificate Code and PIN Safe: Save your Certificate Code and PIN because you will need them when booking your new flight.

• Check Your Certificate Balance Anytime: You can check how much is left on your certificate balance at any time.

Alaska Airlines Travel Credits

For Non-Refundable Tickets:

• When you change or cancel a ticket that is not refundable, you have three options for the value of your ticket:

• You can keep it as a ticket.

• You can exchange it for a Credit Certificate.

• You can put it in your My Account wallet.

Credit Certificates:

• You will get your Credit Certificate code and PIN in two separate emails.

• You need both of these to book a new ticket.

• Also, you can use the Credit Certificate as it is or store it in your Alaska Airlines wallet (My Account).

• If you keep it as is, use the code and PIN during payment to book your new ticket.

Wallet Funds:

• Customers can get travel credit directly in your wallet when they cancel or change their flight.

• For convenience, they can also move a Credit Certificate they got earlier into their wallet.

Book a Flight Alaska Airlines Credit Certificate

• Visit the website. You can't do this on the mobile app or mobile website. When buying a new flight ticket, you will need to enter both the Credit Certificate code and its matching PIN on the payment page. Remember, This process cannot be completed using the mobile app or mobile website. It must be done on the full website.

A new ticket with a Credit Certificate:

• Step 1: Visit the website. You cannot access this website on the mobile app and mobile site.

• Step 2: Book your new flight.

• Step 3: On the Payment page:

• a. Choose the "Wallet and certificates" section.

• b. Click on "Use certificates or gift cards." (If you have more than four certificates, add them to your wallet first).

• Step 4: Enter your Certificate Code and its PIN. Make sure each Code matches its PIN correctly.

• Note: If you need to make a big payment, you can use your credit card to cover the balance and complete the purchase.

• Step 5: Confirm and finish the transaction.

• You will get a soft copy of your new ticket sent to you via email.

Add Your Alaska Airlines Credit Certificate in Your Wallet

• Customers can collect their Alaska Airlines Credit Certificate in their wallets. They can use the balance (along with the money already in your wallet) to pay for a new ticket.

To add a Credit Certificate to your wallet: 

• Go to  homepage.

• Sign in to your account by using your User ID or Mileage Plan Number and Password. If you don't have an account, you can sign up.

• Select "My Wallet."

• Enter your Certificate Code and the matching PIN.

• After entering the verification code and agreeing to the deposit rules, click on the "Deposit" button.

• Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the deposit.

• After completing the all steps, the value of your Credit Certificate will be added to your wallet and will show up there.

Consider the Following Important Points

• Redemption Timing: Redeem your Credit Certificates before they expire. Also, you can use them for travel even after the expiry date.

• Online Redemption: Customers can only redeem Credit Certificates online.

• Service charges: Pay service charges and other fees (like baggage) by a different payment method.

• Limitations on Use: You cannot use Credit Certificates for lounge membership, food, beverages, cargo, hotel/car services, and other goods/services.

• Using Multiple Certificates: You can use up to 4 Credit Certificates for one reservation. If there is not enough balance, pay the rest with a credit card or another payment method. Any remaining balance stays on the Certificate.

• Certificate Validity: Credit Certificate is valid for 12 months from when the original ticket was issued or 30 days from the date of cancellation/exchange, whichever comes later.

• Non-Transferable: You cannot turn Credit Certificates into cash, checks, and gift certificates. Also, you cannot transfer, trade, or sell them to others.

How to Be Eligible for a Full Refund on Alaska Airlines?

Customers can get a full refund for all types of Alaska Airlines reservations, including Saver fare. If you cancel your reservation within 24 hours of booking, provided your flight is more than 24 hours away from departure.
